How the team works

Every page on this site passes through the same three roles. A health writer researches the topic and prepares a draft, often with AI assistance. The editor checks every figure against its source, edits the page and takes responsibility for it under their byline. Where a page covers treatment, products or health advice, an independent clinical reviewer is asked to check it once our reviewer panel is in place.

Only the editor’s name appears in the byline, and we never attach a reviewer’s name to a page they have not reviewed. Our editorial policy explains the rest of the process.

Independent clinical reviewers

We are appointing a small panel of dentists and specialist orthodontists who hold current AHPRA registration to review pages that discuss treatment, recovery, products and oral health. Their job is to check that a page is accurate, does not overstate what a treatment or product can do, and sends readers to a registered practitioner where it should.

Reviewer profiles will appear here as they join, with their name, profession, AHPRA registration type and a declaration of interests. Until then, no page on this site claims clinical review.

Reviewer rules

Every clinical reviewer agrees to the following before reviewing a page.

  1. Paid per review, nothing else. Reviewers receive a flat fee for each review. They have no share of advertising, affiliate, referral or sponsorship income, and their fee does not change with what the page recommends.
  2. No affiliate income. Reviewers may not hold affiliate or referral arrangements with any brand, fund, lender or retailer featured on the site.
  3. Never their own practice. A reviewer never reviews a page that lists, names or links to their own practice, their employer or a practice in which they hold a financial interest. City shortlists for the reviewer’s own city are reviewed by someone else.
  4. Declared interests, verified registration. Reviewers declare any relationship with a brand or manufacturer mentioned on the site, and we verify their registration on the AHPRA register before their first review and annually after that.

A clinical review confirms that a page is accurate and balanced at the review date. It is not an endorsement of any product, fund or practice, or a substitute for seeing a registered dentist or orthodontist. AHPRA-registered dentists and specialist orthodontists interested in joining the panel can contact us.
