Invisalign typically costs $3,500 to $9,500 in Australia in 2026, depending on the package. Published practice prices put Invisalign Express at around $2,500–$5,000, Lite at $4,000–$7,000 and Comprehensive at $6,500–$9,800. Specialist orthodontists in Sydney quote higher, up to about $13,500. All figures are indicative; your quote depends on your teeth.
Invisalign is priced per case, not per aligner, and the brand itself does not publish prices. Align Technology’s Australian site says Invisalign-trained doctors set their own fees. That is why quotes for what sounds like the same treatment can differ by several thousand dollars between practices in the same suburb.
This guide gathers published 2026 prices from Australian practices and cost aggregators so you can see where a quote sits before you accept it. Every figure below is indicative. Your fee depends on how far your teeth need to move, which package your dentist or orthodontist chooses, and what the practice bundles in.
Invisalign cost by package
Invisalign sells several packages to practices, and the package largely sets the price. The names you will see on a quote are Express (sometimes i7 or Go), Lite, Moderate and Comprehensive (often called Full). Teen and First are versions for younger patients.
| Package | Aligners | Typical treatment time | Indicative price (AUD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Invisalign Express (i7 / Go) | Up to 7 | 3–6 months | $2,500–$5,000 |
| Invisalign Lite | Up to 14 | 6–12 months | $4,000–$7,000 |
| Invisalign Moderate | Up to 26 | 9–15 months | $5,500–$8,300 |
| Invisalign Comprehensive (Full) | Unlimited | 12–24 months | $6,500–$9,800 |
| Comprehensive, specialist orthodontist (Sydney) | Unlimited | 18–24+ months | $13,000–$15,000 |

Across the published price lists we checked, general dentists cluster in the $3,500–$9,500 band. Smile Solutions in Melbourne, for example, lists Express at $2,500–$4,500 and Comprehensive at $6,500–$9,500. gentledentistry Adelaide publishes fixed prices of $5,000 for Express through to $9,800 for Comprehensive, with retainers and whitening bundled in.
Specialist orthodontists tend to sit higher. Orthoworx, a specialist practice in Chatswood and Zetland, lists Lite at $8,000–$10,000 and Comprehensive at $13,000–$15,000, with a quick-answer range of $8,000–$13,500. Part of what you pay for is three extra years of university training and experience with complex bite problems. For mild crowding, a general dentist who is an experienced Invisalign provider is often adequate; for bite correction, a specialist is usually the safer choice.
Why one person pays $4,000 and another $9,500
- Number of aligners. Express caps out at 7 aligners per arch; Comprehensive is unlimited. More movement means more aligners and more visits.
- Refinements. Teeth rarely finish exactly on plan. Comprehensive includes unlimited refinement aligners for up to 5 years; Express may include one.
- Attachments and IPR. Tooth-coloured bumps and small enamel polishing between teeth are usually bundled, but check.
- Who treats you. Specialist orthodontist fees are generally higher than general dentist fees for the same package.
- Location. Sydney CBD and lower north shore quotes are generally higher than regional or outer-suburban ones.
Three worked examples
Mild relapse after teenage braces. Two slightly rotated lower front teeth, no bite issues. A dentist might propose Express at $3,000–$4,500 over 4–6 months, with one refinement round. Add a retainer set if it is not bundled.
Moderate crowding, upper and lower. Enough movement to need 20–26 aligners. Expect a Moderate or Lite-plus quote in the $5,500–$7,500 range and 9–15 months. Aesthetik Dental’s worked example for a moderate case lands at about $6,500 all-inclusive.
Crowding plus an overbite. This is Comprehensive territory, often with elastics and attachments, over 18–24 months. General dentists publish $6,500–$9,800; a specialist orthodontist may quote $11,000–$15,000, and for bite correction many dentists will refer you to one anyway.
Invisalign cost by city
City differences are real but smaller than the difference between packages. A Lite case in Perth and a Lite case in Sydney may be a thousand dollars apart; a Lite case and a Comprehensive case at the same practice can be four thousand apart.
| City | Express / Lite (indicative) | Comprehensive (indicative) | Based on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney | $2,800–$7,000 | $6,000–$12,000 (specialists to $15,000) | Beecroft Smiles, Lumina Dental, Orthoworx, WhatsTheDamage |
| Melbourne | $2,500–$7,000 | $6,500–$9,500 | Smile Solutions, Gorgeous Smiles, Aesthetik Dental |
| Brisbane | $3,200–$5,300 | $7,000–$9,500 | Wickham Terrace Dental, Oasis Dental Studio, WhatsTheDamage |
| Perth | $2,750–$7,000 | $6,000–$9,200 | Bayview Dental, Stirling Street Dental, West Perth Dental |
| Adelaide | $3,500–$6,500 | $7,000–$9,800 | gentledentistry Adelaide, DentistryNearMe, WhatsTheDamage |
| Gold Coast | $3,200–$5,500 | $7,000–$9,700 | Oasis Dental Studio, DentistryNearMe, WhatsTheDamage |

What the independent aggregators say
Two independent Australian sources give a cross-check on practice price lists. WhatsTheDamage, which compiles published clinic fees, puts clinic-supervised clear aligners at $4,500–$9,500 nationally, with Sydney ($5,050–$10,500) and Melbourne ($4,850–$10,500) at the top and Adelaide ($4,200–$8,850) at the bottom. CostDoc’s patient-reported tracker shows a national median of $6,275 against $5,900 in Perth, from a small sample. Both land inside the practice ranges above, which is reassuring.
What an Invisalign fee usually includes
Most Australian practices quote a single all-in fee. Smile Solutions describes a typical bundle as the initial records (iTero scan, photos and possibly X-rays), the ClinCheck treatment plan, all aligner sets, attachments, interproximal reduction if needed, one set of Vivera retainers and review appointments roughly every 6–8 weeks.
Not every practice bundles everything. Orthoworx, for instance, prices retainers separately at $400–$800. Advanced Dental Practice Kingsgrove lists possible extras of $100–$250 for a consultation, $200–$500 for records and $300–$500 per retainer set. Before you compare two quotes, ask each practice to confirm in writing what is and is not included.
| Item | Indicative price (AUD) | Often included? |
|---|---|---|
| Initial consultation | $0–$500 | Often free or credited |
| Records (iTero scan, X-rays, photos) | $200–$500 | Usually included |
| Refinement aligners (extra round) | $300–$800 each | Depends on package |
| Retainers (Vivera set) | $300–$800 | Sometimes included |
Two things to ask about specifically: how many refinement rounds are included, and whether retainers are in the price. A quote that looks $800 cheaper can end up dearer once a retainer set and an extra refinement are added.
Invisalign vs braces cost
In most published Australian price lists, Invisalign and metal braces overlap heavily. Canstar, citing smile.com.au, puts metal braces at about $4,500–$8,000, ceramic braces at $5,000–$8,500 and Invisalign at $6,000–$9,000 for full treatment. Choice’s guide gives clear aligners a wider $4,500–$9,500 band.
| Option | Indicative price (AUD) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| At-home clear aligners (SmilePath, NewSmile) | $1,674–$2,299 | Mild cases only; no in-person supervision |
| Invisalign (in-clinic) | $3,500–$9,500 | Most published general-dentist prices |
| Metal braces | $4,500–$9,000 | Canstar/smile.com.au and practice prices |
| Ceramic braces | $5,000–$11,000 | Tooth-coloured brackets |
| Lingual braces | $9,000–$15,000 | Fitted behind the teeth |
So Invisalign is not automatically the expensive option. For a mild case, an Express or Lite package can cost less than full braces. For a complex bite case, braces are often cheaper and sometimes more predictable. Our Invisalign vs braces comparison and braces cost guide go into when each makes sense.
At-home aligner kits are the cheapest option on paper, at roughly $1,674–$2,299 according to NewMouth’s Australian review. They involve no in-person examination. The Australian Society of Orthodontists says orthodontic treatment should always be supervised by a trained specialist and warns that unsupervised kits can compromise your oral health. They do not suit bite problems, significant crowding, rotated teeth, gum disease or untreated decay. See our clear aligners review before considering one.
Will your health fund pay for Invisalign?
Invisalign is claimed under orthodontics on extras cover, the same item as braces. Finder estimates a mid-range or comprehensive extras policy returns about $600–$800 a year towards Invisalign, and most policies have a 12-month waiting period for orthodontics. Many funds also apply a lifetime orthodontic limit per person; practices commonly cite $1,000–$3,000.
Three rules of thumb. First, the rebate is a contribution, not a payout; nobody gets Invisalign fully covered. Second, once you use your lifetime limit it is gone, even if you switch funds. Third, Medicare does not cover orthodontics, and the Child Dental Benefits Schedule excludes it too. Check your policy’s orthodontic limit and waiting period before you sign a treatment contract, or compare orthodontic extras in our extras cover comparison.

Ways to pay less for Invisalign
- Get two quotes. Several practices, including gentledentistry Adelaide and Smile Solutions, publish price-match policies for written quotes.
- Ask whether Lite or Express fits. If your dentist proposes Comprehensive for mild crowding, ask why. A second opinion from an AHPRA-registered specialist orthodontist is reasonable.
- Use the consultation. Most practices offer free or credited consultations, so the scan and ClinCheck preview cost nothing up front.
- Time your extras cover. If you are about to start, check the waiting period; starting in a new policy year can let you claim across two annual limits for staged payments.
- Payment plans. Interest-free in-house plans and buy-now-pay-later are common; Aesthetik Dental quotes $200–$400 a month over 18–24 months. Read our dental payment plans guide first.
- Wear them 22 hours a day. Poor wear is the main cause of extra refinement rounds, which can add $300–$800 each.
How to choose a provider
Check the practitioner on the AHPRA register. Only someone registered as a specialist orthodontist can use that title; many excellent Invisalign providers are general dentists, and that is fine for simpler cases. Ask how many Invisalign cases they complete a year, which package they are recommending and why, and what happens if your teeth do not track to plan. Our orthodontist directory lists AHPRA-registered specialists by city.
